Jena inline twin 2x2 ccm
A warm welcome to all of you out there!!
I am very sorry for let you down with new videos, but I have just so little time....and make a clip like this take a LOT hours to make it..
I had a lot videos and pictures already made, but editing a video was in this case far more than a half day...
But as promised..here it is! The Jena twin story! This was a project made some years back..and I had a lot video and pics in my PC..just time for the editing was never found...well ...here it is finally! Enjoy!
I want always to have one, from the moment I have seen it on the cover of the book...but so hard to find, so I thought..well, lets see if we can make one from two engines....and even run it, if lucky!..
There were quite some challenges...but I got long time ago on FB some great help with pictures of the central part of an genuine engine..not all details...but at least something to work with...
Well, from one thing came the other..and after some months, it was done. I am very surprised, with the power this "thing" has. The prop in the run is a 10x5 . So imagine a smaller prop. Once are adjustments fine, it is a easy starter and smooth runner!! The Jena twin was also build as a 2,5 glow. Not sure if also as a diesel..The shaft is pretty strong on my engine,it could hold on with 2x2,5 cc...

A warm welcome my dear friends! I am sorry that I release so few videos, but I simply don't have the time to edit them. But from time to time..and special in these hard times, I feel, I need to make one, to cheer you up a bit! One more will be made soon..but that is a secret so far. Another spanish Ikon from Spain..the BYRA 2.5 !! It was a popular engine in its days. The regular 2,5 cc had a plain head....the "black head Competition" had a slightly bigger ventury to boost performance. And for sure a not bad runer with useful rpm. Its another engine I rebuild for my friend Adrian Duncan .. How ever,it had some issues... Make a new piston,as the heat up trick dont work with ...

Welcome back to "Diesel mania" A short "Sunday afternoon" run of a lovely type one (thin flange) Frog 100. Serial number 6913,so a pretty early type. • @valic000

  • @direktorpresident
    @direktorpresident 2 місяці тому

    I love my ball-race Drone, and it is fixed-compression so you can vary the run a little bit to suit different props by altering the oil ratio. The manufacturer mandated no kerosene or DERV for this engine, only ether and oil. At least it runs cool. Thanks for the video!

    • @valic000

    I hve 3 different John engines,including this 0.3cc gem. My other John engines are a red head 0.35cc diesel with vertical fins. The cylinder head is rotated to alter the compression. My other John diesel is a more classic design of 0.5cc with normal fins and a tommy bar to set compression. All 3 engines have the same crankcase. Hi Paul...First a very happy Christmas time to you and soon a healthy and happy new year!! The Snipe 1.5 I have in an RC version, but so far never run the mine. The throttle is not very advanced on the engine, and I have no idea, how well or not they work.But if you take a look at a small PAW with R/C carb, they work really excellent,..muffler ring or a real muffler, it does not matter.. Some diesel model engines do not to well. Important is, that the RC carb is much smaller then on a Glow, and a bleed air system with an adjustment screw, and it should work pretty well.... Best regard Paul!! Have a nice time these days!

      Hi Tomas. At the moment, I have a lot work, and as I have also a regular job, free time is in very short supply.I wish, I had more time to do all the work I have ahead of me. Do you need parts to be anodized? Kind regards, Peter

    I think that you have the left-handed pusher propeller fitted back-to-front, with the flatter surfaces on the suck side and the more convex surfaces on the blow side. This will greatly reduce the thrust.

    Thank you once again, Peter - i will bear in mind what you say regarding the Anodizing - i had thought to try my hand at it as well as some aluminium barazing / welding sometime. Kind regards to you, Chris.

    Thank you, Peter.....yes, i am hopeful it will run again.....the fit of the Crankshaft in the crankcase is nice and free but not sloppy and the con rod is pretty good, too. getting there ! I invested in an Anodizing kit.....have you any thoughts on this.....i believe i may have to bring the cyl. head back to bright state before i can begin to re - anodize. Learning a new skill !!

    • @valic000
      @valic000 10 місяців тому

      That good news on the internal condition.. Anodizing is not so difficult.. but I not recommend to do it on a real part..It need time to be good at it..as well you need the correct color...It need a bit practice to get the correct color back to the head....that is sometimes not easy....And indeed, you need a plain clean part, before you start anodize it...There is a lot info on the web..thats where I also got my info from...read, try and learn from mistakes, thats the way to do it...Mistakes are the best school!

    Great job, Peter. My Irvine 20, jus like yours, has really black oily exhaust. Cant figure out why! Even on 20% oil in fuel.

    • @valic000
      @valic000 11 місяців тому

      Hi John, If black residue comes from t he exhaust, it is usually a sign, the engine gets to hot.Try reduce the compression.What type of fuel do you use? You can try also to ad Cetaan Booster, so the engine will run much smoother and on a less higher compression. About 2-4% is enough. Let me know, about your fuel...Best regards from Holland! Peter

    …..thank you for the tip about lapping the piston before drilling the wrist pin holes. I have bright mild steel as my piston material ?nothardened). Hoping it will wear well inside the hardened liner. I have a very tight contra piston although it does knock back with aloud crack sound. Proves it does move with increased/decreased compression. So helpful, your videos. Chris.

    • @valic000
      @valic000 Рік тому

      Chris, if you make the new piston from soft steel, it will expand to much,when heat up in the run. This will give most likely problems.Cast Iron do not expand a lot,and the bore taper is made for that. Good luck with the Manxman...I hope, you get it done!

    Is mild bright steel ok for a piston ? Running in a hardened steel liner. Manxman Chris.

    • @valic000
      @valic000 Рік тому

      Hi Chris. The Manxman has as almost al Model diesel engines a cast iron fine grain piston. The taper in the bore is ground for that piston as well. The Mills engine use steel on steel.but both parts are harden,and use a different geometry inside the bore. You find cast iron bars on Ebay/UK, and if you have a lathe, you can make the correct piston Cris....But it has to be a fine grain Cast iron. I use also old solid car camshafts...the softer ends or the inner core. It is how ever usually a lot work, to get down to the soft core.This material will give how ever a piston, which hold a long time, if done well.. Good luck! Peter

    Brilliant - esp. the heating technique for piston expansion. I noted - only air cooled NOT oil quenching. Must try sometime - thank you. Regards - Manxman Chris.
